The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting is a non-profit organization that sponsors and promotes quality international journalism, shedding light on critical issues the general public may not be aware of. Vital to this mission is the Center’s coordination with educators. To enhance the educational section of their website, the Pulitzer Center realized it needed to make its massive library of journalistic content accessible to educators in a way that would support curriculum development.
Teaming with the Pulitzer Center, idfive created a Lesson Builder web application. Using Drupal, idfive built an application that allows educators to quickly author and publish custom lessons. Using the Lesson Builder search engine, teachers can find the most relevant articles, videos and photos that support their teaching objectives. They then can curate resources into a lesson, create a learning outline and submit questions for students to think about. Once the custom lesson is complete, educators can share it via a custom link, email and social media.
