Senior Creative Copywriter

About the Role

Creative copywriting has the irreplaceable ability to get you right in the feels—inspiring audiences to take action and build meaningful connections with our mission-based clients. 

As part of the idfive team, you’ll partner with strategists and talented creatives to bring ideas to life—ideas that have the power to put more good back into the world. You’ll write emotionally charged manifestos and catchy campaign headlines—the advertising dream. But you’ll also create intricate matrices that ensure messaging speaks directly to varied audiences while maintaining consistency throughout a campaign lifecycle. Work Location

idfive is located in Baltimore, MD on the campus of the Maryland Institute College of Art. We love Charm City and it loves us back. Most of our team lives in the city and surrounding areas, but fivers can be found all across the country. 

We meet periodically throughout the year for agency-wide events, but beyond that, where you work is up to you, so long as it’s during our operating hours of 9–5 EST. If you’re within driving distance of the office, you may be asked to work from the office occasionally for creative brainstorms or in-person client meetings.



$60,000 – $70,000

Before you get here, you should…

  • Have a passion for creative copywriting and 3-5 years of experience in a full-time copywriting position or similar role.
  • Be motivated to help mission-based clients do good in the world.
  • Thrive in a tight-knit, collaborative atmosphere but able to work independently.
  • Love storytelling and finding ways to bring emotion and heart to your work. 
  • Be a master of grammar, editing, short-form, and long-form copywriting.
  • Pitch creative concepts and ideas to creative leadership and idfive clients based on research insights, strategy, brand voice, and tone.
  • Have a strong understanding of brand, marketing strategy, SEO best practices, and social engagement strategies
  • Excel at translating research findings into engaging and actionable copywriting.
  • Be comfortable guiding internal and client teams through your work, including thought processes and rationale.
  • Have strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Bonus points if you also…

  • Have worked at an integrated marketing or advertising agency.
  • Can find creative ways to solicit feedback from end-users.
  • Have a keen design eye, but know when to step back and pass things off to the design team. 

On your first project, you might be expected to…

  • Create narrative concepts for web, paid media, and social campaigns, building upon strategic direction set in the Discovery phase.
  • Develop a messaging architecture for brand, with nuanced copy that enhances support points and differentiators.
  • Produce a team-aligning creative brief that summarizes the research findings and key insights, audience needs, barriers, and desires.
  • Partner with the strategy, creative, development, and accounts teams to be sure your work meets project goals.
  • Present your creative concepts, headlines, taglines, blogs, social posts, and messaging architectures to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Validate and refine your recommendations against stakeholder feedback and testing data.

After six months to a year, you’ll be expected to…

  • Own all creative copywriting deliverables for large enterprise clients.
  • Have developed a collaborative and supportive relationship between research/strategy, design, UX, and creative leadership.
  • Balance multiple complex projects at a time, within varying stages of development.
  • Help shape and grow the creative excellence at idfive.
