Founded in 1867, Howard University is a private, research university in Washington, D.C., that includes 13 schools and colleges. The University also houses a wide variety of research centers, and academic and administrative departments. Stakeholders often have limited time and resources to create and maintain their web presence. Meanwhile, site visitors, including prospective students and donors, are looking for a consistent user experience and accurate, engaging content that is commensurate for a vibrant campus community in the heart of the nation’s capital.
Since 2015, idfive has partnered with Howard University’s Web Services team to create more than fifteen Drupal websites that normalize design elements; streamline content creation; and represent the best the institution has to offer. A “publish once, broadcast everywhere” model lies at the heart of our approach with a centralized events calendar, newsroom, profile directory and programs database that can distribute valuable, up-to-date content across the university’s numerous web properties. And an expansive template library for schools and colleges provides a consistent user experience and enables every stakeholder to benefit from subsequent enhancements. We also redesigned the university’s homepage to reflect the school’s contemporary brand and vision.
